Ready For Some Blasphemy? I Actually Like Star Trek: SNW BETTER Than Any Other Star Trek

Even though it slightly changes the timeline and all the major characters have more interpersonal relations than the series we’re all used to (Star Trek) showed. Watching the original Star Trek leaves one, uh, lacking as far as crew interactions now.

Didn’t like Discovery at first; it was their version of Klingons that put me off. Looked like some kind of fish-person. And while I have nothing against fish-persons, as long as they’re fried, those particular Klingons put me off the show. Until the next couple of seasons came out. Binge watching cures a lot of ills. Pre-ordered the next season already.

And, yes, I even enjoyed Picard.

Nice weekend. New fridge is working. SWMBO has things in it where she wants those things to be. That’ll be the last of that. Hopefully.

Got so busy cleaning the old fridge, and the kitchen, that I forgot to go get a longer section of water tubing for the new fridge. Gee, now I’ll have to do it Monday on the way home from my PT appointment.

Did I mention that at my meeting with the Audiologist last week she put a beach in my head?

I have significant ringing in my ears. We were hoping the hearing aids would help with some of that. Nope. Seems to be getting worse.

Mentioned that at my appointment today and she says “Hold my beer.” (Or something to that effect.) Clicks a few buttons on her display of my aids and, wow, ocean sounds. For a guy that grew up in Southern California near the ocean and spent 20 years in the US Navy, it’s pretty okay.

Not really doing much for the ringing; but it sounds pretty. She did say that it could take some time for the treatment to seem like it’s working; so I’m not stressing about it right now.

A year from now? We’ll see.

After my audio appointment I stopped by Walmarche for some of those potato patties SWMBO and I like with our breakfast. They used to cost about $1.10/pkg but now are $3.45/pkg. For potato patties. WinCo has them way cheaper but theirs SUCK. Maybe I ought to make these myself? Hmmm…

Anywho, $113 later I got out of there. Not for patties only. A case of quart canning jars. A case of 1/2 gallon canning jars. Desalinator stuff for the Kurig. The latest Aquaman movie (WAY too long but visually stunning). It all added up.

A friend is sending me one of his old Drone’s. Thing cost him a couple of grand a couple of years ago. I haven’t had much luck with drones around here. Too many trees to run into. And the house. And my truck. The Dog once.

$1400 Later We Got Us A New Fridge.

At the Scratch & Dent store over in Tacoma. According to a sign they had on the fridge we got, if it hadn’t been “dinged and scratched” (which aren’t all that noticeable) then this would have cost $3200. Which I wouldn’t pay even if I had that kind of money. It’s a freakin’ fridge, for gosh sake.

They loaded it into the truck but I had to tie it down. Which I over did. Just because. When we got home I got the truck positioned just right at the front door and got the ramps out. Called the Mission Mormonaries over to help and these 2 little skinny guys show up. One with a hurt finger in a splint.

I did most of the heavy lifting for this one. Got half-way down the ramps and got caught on the screen door. Moving a bit to the other direction got us caught on the  door. Re-measuring I needed another 1.5 inches to get the fridge through the door; IF I took off the fridge door handles.

Ok. Fuck it. I’m tired. My back hurts. My leg hurts. Sent the Missionaries home with some freeze dried ice cream sandwiches for showing up, covered the fridge with a tarp, and quit for the night. Was so out of it that I even left the keys in the unlocked truck. Good thing I live out in the boonies.

Hurt too much to sleep well but, other than my every 2 hour pee trip, slept until 0700 this AM. You’d think I’d be rested.

Got hold of some friends and they all came over and we had the fridge in the house in less than 10 minutes. See what 5 guys can do when left alone.

Plugged it in and it works fine. Will have to get some longer water tubing tomorrow before I can get the ice thingie working. The layout is way different than the side-by-side we’re used to; but I think we’ll adapt.

So, for date day SWMBO and I went to Sheri’s for dinner then to WinCo where we tried, all at once, to replace the everyday stuff we lost with the old fridge. Damned near filled our cart (and we don’t usually do that).

Home. Everything put away. Convenience frozen foods in the new bottom freezer compartment (Ice Cream, Chicken Pot Pies, Burrito’s, etc) and everything else spread around topside. I think it’ll work.

Think I’ll do an hour in MS Flight Sim before going to bed. I want to learn how to use the A-10’s guns and missiles so I can do another video of me strafing the White House for YouTube to take down.

Contrary to popular beliefs and my sometimes gloomy outlook, life is mostly grand. I appreciate my friends that dropped what they were doing to come over and help me. I appreciate everyone that stops by and reads what is probably the most boring blog in the world; then stopping by to read this one.

So, The Sequence Of Events As Close As I Can Figure.

A GFI was popped. But it wasn’t popped out enough to just look at it and tell. My bad. When I pressed the button in all the electric came back on.

BUT, the GFI popped because the fridge we bought in 2009, when we moved in here, decided to go Tits Up and took out that one GFI on a completely different wall across the kitchen. The only thing working on it is the light (in the fridge, not the wall. Nevermind). Looked up “How to jump start a GE fridge” but they don’t really have anything for an OLD GE fridge. Tried a bunch of stuff; to no avail.

Took everything I felt I could (and wanted to) save and prepped it for the freeze dryer. That’s going now. Everything else got trashed.

But, you know, some of that stuff in the freezer was 4-5 years old anyway. If we ain’t used it by now…

We’re going to get up early (well, SWMBO will get up early) and head out for breakfast then the scratch & dent store in Tacoma for a ‘new’ fridge. I hate going across the Narrows bridge into Tacoma. When you hit the other side of the water, everyone who hasn’t already forgotten how to drive suddenly forgets.

You think I’m kidding.

Still cheaper than getting an electrician out to the house.

Went to PT yesterday then again today because it was the only slot open for the rest of the week. Monday they really made me hurt. Today they added to it. As we used to say in the Navy: Fuckin-A I Hurt.
