In Junior High and High School I had trouble remembering dates and names, but usually got the overall story right. That hasn’t changed. Mostly I liked hearing about how they did things in the past; normal everyday living type stuff. Even now, when I look at really old photographs, after seeing what the main subject is, I like to look around the background. See that guy sitting in that old car? What was he out doing? Was that lady “dressed up,” or was she dressed for everyday living? Look at that “Bread .03 Cents” sign. Cool!
But, I’m at that age now where “History” to me means: What the Hell Did I have for dinner last night? Still, I like watching the Ken Burns Documentaries and things like that. Seems in my old age I’ve (finally) developed a passion for learning. I’ve already bought several courses from “The Great Courses” and plan to order more. Soon as I figure out what I want to study next.
Not much going on today. About to get off my fat, old, ass and start working on my room again. Think I’ll finish it off, before finishing the kitchen, so I can get my stuff moved back into it. Need to go buy some plastic to protect the floor when I paint. And my counter-tops. And figure out how I’m going to support the counter-tops. Thinking of free-floating them so I can move how I need to under them. We’ll see.
Made myself a pseudo-BBQ Pork Chop, Scalloped Potato’s, and corn/peas mix for dinner. Was so good I’m thinking of eating SWMBO’s share… (Which she might not eat anyway since she doesn’t like cold/rewarmed meat. But we’ll see.)
MCARC 10-meter Chat Net @ 1930 tonight. Other than that it’s pretty much SSDD around here. The “News” is only slightly interesting. Too many people claiming to “deserve” something.
