The Pandorica Opens

Pool4bPicked SWMBO up at the Ferry Landing yesterday evening and ran her out to her class at the Mullinex Church building. Dropped her off and I went to Walmart.

Bought a nice battery, a trickle charger (one of the supposidly SMART ones), and some other stuff to move my radio’s from house power to battery power. Walked out of Walmart $130 broker but think this’ll work out.

So, today I put it all together and hooked it up. Only had to make one run into town for different parts. Working good so far. The little charger thingie has a constant green light: indicating the battery is charged. Been listening to all Pool3bthree radio’s most of the afternoon and it hasn’t changed. Cool! Now, if/when the power goes out I can still operate my radio’s. And, if I don’t permanently mount this outside, I could take it along for field day. Need to get a solar panel for field charging. Hmmm…

Not a whole lot going on. Working on the radio’s part of the day. Taking the Dog for walks. Playing with localhost and setting up Piwigo & WordPress to play with. Really important Retired stuff.

Picked SWMBO up at the QFC and we be home. She’s off in her room doing whatever she does in there. Waiting on a friend of her’s to show up for some fabric. Radio’s still working just right. Doctor Who in the background.

Think I’ll go lay down and read.

All I Can Say Is …

This cold is kicking my ass! It’s the post-nasal ball of rusty barbed wire sitting at the top of the back of my throat that is really annoying. Blehs. Aches and pains (not associated with just growing old). Haven’t done shit. Don’t plan to do shit. Even taking a shit is way down the list right now. (Although I still wonder why we call it “taking” a shit. Aren’t we “leaving” a shit?}

Did manage to take the Dog for a couple of COLD walks; but at the exprense of chores. Didn’t get my regular chores done. Well, except for making the bed. Dog likes to jump in the middle of the bed and chase the blankets when I shake them out. Wierd.

Oh, put a couple layers of foam rubber on my chair to see if I can ease the pain in my coccyx. When I spent a bit too much time in the bathroom, the Dog let me know how much he LOVES that stuff. I’m still sweeping tiny pieces of foam rubber up. Bad Dog!

Oh, our power outage the other night: turned out to be something in OUR electrical box out in the yard. Of course, we are the next-to-the-last house they could check for problems so it took them awhile. Pretty nice when your electrical box can blow the power to 20-25 homes.

I’m going to bed.

I Don’t Usually Post On Saturday

Jason04Cause it’s our “date” day and I spend as much time with my lovely young bride as I can. But, we got home early tonight. Took the Missionaries to the All-You-Can-Eat Chinese place in Port Orchard and watched them STUFF themselves and came on back home cause they have a time limit they can be out. Which is okay; we knew that before inviting them.

So, SWMBO is off getting her homework started and I’m crashing X-Plane. Asked her if she needed anything at the Safeway, but she thought I’d be making the run by myself. Not happening. But she’s started her homework so I won’t drag her off. 64 years old and sleeping with a COED. Cool!

Other than that, not a whole Hell of a lot going on. Still hasn’t started snowing here. Yet. Looking at the Intelleicast map I don’t see anything even near us. Oh, well. Just means everything will freeze over and the roads will be really slick tomorrow morning.

Nothing going on the radio either. No snow related accidents or anything that I’ve heard since we got home. Sometimes I wonder if the Weather Guessers have any idea what they’re doing.

Watch. Tomorrow we’ll wake up to either 2 feet of snow, or ice over everything.

Girding my loins (as it were) to talk to our Renter tomorrow. Rent is due the 1st and here it is the 7th and nada. I hate confrontation though. I’ll do it; but I don’t enjoy it. He’s been a pretty good renter. Just broke up with his girl so I know he’s not thinking “rent” right now. Still, I don’t think his problems should become my problem.

Anywho, that’s about it. Think I’ll pick a movie to watch before going to lay down and read. I must be getting old cause it’s only 1930 and I’m already thinking of going to lay down and read.

No Post Because

door01It’s been too cold (for me) to get out and do much of anything yesterday or today. Bundle up and take the Dog for walks is about it.

Oh, really exciting. Tried to activate my new “chip” ATM card and the damned center let me get all the way through activating it right up to changing my pin. Said I wasn’t calling from the phone number on file and to contact my financial institution.

So I drove down to the bank and the nice lady changed my phone number. Got home and tried the card thing again. Same results. I was NOT a happy camper.

door02But, it worked today. Guess it took some time for their really fast computer’s to get it’s data up to date.

And that is about as exciting as it’s been around here. Which is okay. Weather is cold but not the –15 one of my cousin’s back east is living. I’m not in an Airport getting shot at. Get to go pick SWMBO up at the QFC since it’s Friday evening.

Well, the new Puppy has gotten to where he’ll come in from outside if I leave him out there long enough. But, even though it’s the exact same kind of door, he’ll wait in the garage until I open the human door to check on him. Go figure. Still having a bit of a problem with pooping indoors though. He’ll get over it. Someday.
