Well, Ain’t That Just Dandy!

Vamp01aWe been planning to attend the Hollie Family reunion the first weekend of Oct (1 & 2 this year), however, I just found out it isn’t until the 2nd weekend of Oct. Shit. If SWMBO can’t/won/t rearrange her vacation then we’ll have to rearrange our trip. Hit Oregon, Ohio for a few days then make a mad dash to Pickwick Landing, Tn for the reunion, then back to Oregon, Oh. Which we can do; it’d just be a pain.

Not a whole lot going on around here. Yesterday was out usual Date Saturday. SWMBO took me to look at small tractors in Shelton before we went to Taco Bell for dinner. Walmart got a lot of our money for “stuff” then home.

Bought her a NextBook; little tablet with a keyboard, for less than $200. Spent the evening setting it up. It’s nice. Need to get her a mini-hdmi cord so she can hook it up to the tv and then she won’t have to drag her laptop around for her genealogy class on Sunday’s. If I didn’t like my tablet so much I’d get myself one of these.

Spent a lot of time on YouTube yesterday watching video’s about small tractors and box scrapers and such. I could use a small tractor around here for road/driveway maintenance and such. One of the Kuboda tractors we saw yesterday, with a box thingie, started at $18k! (Not sure if the loader was another $4k or not.) Phew! I may have to look for a used one. (I don’t like buying used really.)

Gloria02bFeeling Southern Inspiration, I took this old crab cage that’s been laying around the house these past 8-10 years and hooked it (folded)  to the rider-mower with a strap, piled a couple of cinder blocks on it, and drug it up and down the driveway. Not bad. Not bad at all. Stirred up the gravel right nice. Cinder blocks kept sliding off though so I’ll have to figure out how to attach them better. Still gonna buy one of them box thingies.

Fed the Missionaries this evening. SWMBO made “oven-fried” chicken. It was good.

MCARC 2-meter Sunday Evening Chat Net went well. Trying to pair bluetooth keyboards to my tablet. The $100 Microsoft keyboard won’t. The little $15 cheapie we got at Walmart hooks up just fine. Go figure. (I hate Microsoft shit.)

Anywho, that’s about it for the night. Think we’ll get up early and head out on a day trip.

Oh, Yeah. Got A Little Wet Out There Today.

So incredibly beautifulStarting around 1545, in the space of about 30 minutes, we had 5 distinct, separate, downpours. It was crazy! The first one I had braved the rain to go to the Caravan and I was stuck out there for about 8 minutes. It really came down! (The rain. Not the Caravan.) Sounded great! Didn’t get any lightning or thunder though. Bummer!

So, as you can guess, I didn’t get outside much today. Mostly I spent a good portion of today cleaning up my office, desktops, and crawling around under the desktops tacking up wires (cause I hate wires.) Wanted to get them out of the way and quit snagging them with my toes/feet all the time.

That and scanning SWMBO’s pictures. And I’ve been uploading the pictures I took at the last Belfair Bites and Bremerton Airport Flyin earlier this month to my personal gallery. That’s been going for about 4 hours now and is only about 50% done. I may btkw02akill it (the uploading) and continue it tomorrow. Yep, 408 files uploaded with 499 go go.

And I got all my usual chores done too. Went the really easy way for dinner and just warmed up a can of Dinty Moore Beef Stew. Think I’ll just relax until time to go pick SWMBO up at the QFC today.

It rained most of the way to pick her up, most of the time I waited, and most all the way back home. Welcome to Western WaRshington beginning of Winter! Always wet. Always gloomy.

Looks like I’ll be inside most of this Labor Day weekend. (And SWMBO has Monday off. Maybe a day trip somewhere?)

Today Was Clean The Damned Ceiling Fans Day!

And mess up my web site day. We’ll get to that …

Had to get the 12-ft ladder into the kitchen to change the lightbulbs in the ceiling fan and decided to just go ahead and clean it while I was up there. What a mess! I probably need to do that one more than once a year or so. That led me to cleaning all the ceiling fans; except for the one in SWMBO’s room. And, yeah, I probably ought to do them all more than once a year. So, 5 fans cleaned with 1 to go.

And, yeah, I was researching how to stop wordpress from putting that damned “&rquote” thing in my subject lines, found a solution, and messed up my theme doing it. Had to completely switch to another theme. Not sure if I’m going to re-download the usual one or not. (Probably will. I like it.)(I did.)

Fashion011aOther than that just not a lot going on. Way cooler today so I haven’t been outside except to check the mail and water the garden. And I probably didn’t need to water since it’s supposed to rain tomorrow. We’ll see.

btkw01aIt finally got warm enough for me and the Dog to go for a walk. Really, it’s kind of nice out there even with the breeze. Guess it helped that I got overheated sweeping all the floors in the house before heading out. AAMOF, I got a lot of things done today but not what I wanted to get done; which was my counter-top/desk area. Wonder why that is?

And that’s it. SWMBO is home and settled in. Her Son clipped the Dog’s nails and accidently clipped his paw so there was a lot of blood to clean up. I’ll have to swab the decks tomorow but was going to do that anyway.

I’m thinking of un-following everyone on Facebook that posts a “Hillary’s Finished” post. Tired of hearing it and nothing getting done. Maybe stick with just Family. Probably do the same on Tumblr and G+ too. (Just sick of hearing it.)

I Am Not Looking Forward To Winter!

Well, I think it’s begun:

Tuesday – Partly sunny, with a high near 73.
Wednesday – Rain likely before 11am, then showers likely after 11am. Cloudy, with a high near 67.
Thursday – Showers likely, mainly after 11am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 66. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
Friday – A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 66.
Saturday – A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 69.

So, it may be getting time to keep a pair of long pants handy. Sucks.

Today was nice though. Somewhere between 75 and 80 degrees. Definite coolness to the air at 0930 when I went to check mail. Got hot this afternoon. A warm wind sprang up. That was really nice. Felt good. We took several walks around the back of the property. (Sometimes it’d be nice to have a person along for the walks. Dog is okay, but he don’t talk much. And he doesn’t always stay with me.)

Fashion035sFashion038sSo I was trying to do things outside. Took my saw out and cut the shelf supports for the Caravan cabinet. Got the first 2 put in (have to use glue cause the “wood” is so thin). Gonna let it dry overnight and do the second 2 tomorrow. I figure even with using glue (a good wood glue) that the shelves should hold 5 or 10 lbs of the Thrive food. As long as we put bottles of liquid on the bottom it should work. Guess we’ll find out next trip!

Checked into the Peninsula Amateur Radio Emergency Net (at least, I think that’s it’s name) but was really scratchy to them. Then, on our local North Club (NMARES) net they didn’t have any problem hearing me but I couldn’t hear them worth beans. Time to get off my fat, old, ass and get my antenna moved! (And soon!) Then one of the new Hams was trying different frequencies to test out his new radio and antenna. Cool!

Other than that, not a whole lot going on. SWMBO stayed up way too late last night finishing a book (which I totally understand) so she’s probably going to lay down early. Think I’ll join her!
