80+ So I Be Outside All Day!

Beech04aWhich is as it should be. Didn’t get to spend all day outside; but quite a bit of it. I do have things to do inside. Which I did. Early. Even made a run to the Post Office.

But, damn, what a lazy day! I did all my usual chores, but, not very damn much else. Moved about 500 lbs of rocks that I’d raked up. Watered the garden (I Got Peas!). Took the Dog for a walk around the back 40. A couple of times.

Otherwise, just laid out in the sun.

Oh, yesterday I ordered Warehouse 13 The Complete Series on Blu-ray. And 25 ft of coax, two pl259 connectors, and a NMO mount for my truck. Delivery for everything spreads from this Friday to Mid-August. I just don’t understand why it takes so long to deliver small packages. Especially since the Post Office, UPS, and (that other one) are always telling us how good they are.

brun6aWill probably make a run into Bremerton, to the Vape Shop, tomorrow cause I need a couple (battery packs?) for my tank. The two I have aren’t holding a charge very long. Of course, I’ve had them only a year or so, so it is time to replace them. @ $40 a pop (last time I bought two) though …

Need to drop some donations off at the thrigt store and mail a package to my inlaws too. Hopefully I won’t get those confused.

Anywho, that’s about it. I lead a pretty boring life.

Got Tired Of Working On My Computer

btkw07aSo, after my appointment at Haselwood Cheverolet in Bremerton today (to fix a recalled driver’s-side seat belt retention thingamagiggy and it took only 1.5 hours instead of 3 like they were figureing) I made Blackberry Jam/Jelly.

And that was pretty much my day.

Oh, it got really cloudy and rained a bit, but we never did get any thunder. Dog and I took a walk between the bouts of rain. I got my feet a bit wet. He got soaked. (He’s a little Dog. Short legged freak!)

Really. Nothing else going on today.

Ok. I May Be Back. Partially Anyway.

Beech06aI bought a 2TB external drive to make a backup of all my data; I like to do that at least once a year. Started the “Backup your home directory” program but chose my data drive instead of my home directory. Backup failed. Then shit started disappearing. One directory at a time.

So I started running “Photorec” and managed to get a lot of (unsorted renamed) files before even that quit working. But not the stuff I wanted, of course. All those pictures I’ve been scanning and sorting over the past couple of years. All our personal video files from our day trips/vacations over the past year. All my Paperport documents and .pdf files. Who knows what else!

Tried pulling the drives and putting them in another computer I had laying around; just in case it was the Motherboard. Linux Mint did NOT like that. Kept stopping on a drive missing error. Never did get it to run.

ws01aSo I put the drives back in the original box. Managed to get completely booted in some kind of recover mode and modified fstab to comment out that drive. Ran mount –a (I think) and all seems to be working. Except that drive, of course. Had to reinstall VMware …

So, since I can’t access the bad drive internally, I need to shut down, remove the drive, and reboot. Thinking of buying a new drive before I do all that.

Think I’ll hook the bad drive up to the Windows 7 machine and let “testdisk” and “Photorec” run as long as they need to run. I have older backups of all my pictures (and just rescanned all them for a test) that I’ll have to redo some of the sorting and stuff. Mostly I’m looking to recover video and .pdf files if I can.

Other than that life has been proceding as usual around here. Has been hot and sunny but today there is the possibility of thunder storms. Gonna have my video camera ready!

Maybe more later. Just wanted to catch up while I could. If all this works after rebooting maybe?

Been So Nice The Past Couple Of Days

Beech03abThat I’ve stayed kinda busy outside until late and just didn’t feel like posting. My Goodness, It’s been great outside! Hot. Sunny. (Naked.) And I have a butt-ton of things to do out there what with gardening, mowing, walking, or just enjoying the weather. I Love Summer! I Love Summer way more than I Hate Winter. I think it got up to 95 here yesterday. Cool! (102 on my thermometer.)

I do miss going to “The Beach” though. (Black’s Beach in La Jolla.) Not that I could make it back up those cliffs now. Well, I probably could; but it would take a couple of hours cause I got so damned Old and out of shape. (Rounds a shape!) Plus, I haven’t been there since we moved up here in ‘93. Ah, well. Old Guy Dreams.

Not a whole lot going on around here. Went to the NMARES monthly meeting last night. Made a couple of runs to ACE the past couple of days. Worked on our closet putting a new wall in to support the new linen closet I inset into the wall. The usual chores. Picking blackberries.

Took the Dog for a walk around the back 40. Wish he was big enough to clear the spider webs from the path before I walk through them! Ugh! He’s starting to slow down on our walks, and being a bit more clumsey in the house, but I figure a 11-12 year old Dog is allowed to do these things. For not really being an animal person, I’m sure gonna miss him when he moves on.

Beech05a

Stopped at Taco Bell last night on the way to the NMARES meeting and had a taco salad (without rice!). Since I get to pick SWMBO up at the QFC @ 1915 tonight (it’s Friday), I just may stop by Taco Bell again. Taco salad still sounds good, but maybe taco’s sound better. We’ll see.

Just not a whole hell of a lot going on around here today. Kind of a lazy day. Been for 3 walks around the property already and may do a couple more before time to leave. But, right now, a tall, cold, glass of iced tea sounds good. (It’s the Southern in me.)

And it hasn’t rained in a few days so it’s time to water the front-upper yard. Neighbors get kind of upset when I do it sans pants, so guess I’ll put my shorts on. It’s the only yard we water during the summer; and then only because of the fruit trees and blue berry bushes.

And that’s it. My Lovely-Young-Bride of almost 30 years is home safe and sound and getting settled for the evening. I’m gonna go read a bit.
