Yes, I’m Old And Now My Back Hurts

But it’s my own damned fault. Made a run to Home Depot (via Navy City Metals to sell my soda cans ($23!!) and COSTCO for 5 pair of jeans) and bought 20 2”x4”x8’ studs (the cheap ones). Since I got home (a couple of hours ago) I’ve been adding frames to my raised bed’s, to attach chicken wire so my peas/beans/whatever have someplace to cling to while they grow. So now my back hurts from the strains of doing things I don’t normally do. And I’m Old.

Finally got tired of trying to stuff my fat ass (actually, Fat Gut) into my jeans and barely being able to close the top button, and then barely being able to breathe once I managed that Herculean task; so I (spur of the moment) decided to just go buy new pants. Way easier than suddenly losing enough weight to fit into my jeans! And all my jeans are about 10 years old anyway. (I usually buy 10 pair every 10 years or so whether I need them or not.)

Yesterday, Independence Day, was a cool day spent with my Schweetie. We got up early and went to the annual 4th of July Church breakfast for pancakes and saugeses. The Flag Ceremony was awesome but the guy that gave a short talk before we got to eat should NOT have made Political Commentary. (At least, in my humble opinion.)

Afterwards, SWMBO and I decided to find a horse shoe set (which I’ve been wanting for years). “Let’s stop by ACE Hardware and see if they have them.” She says. “Naw,” says I. “They’d be kind of spendy there.”

So we made a run to Walmart in Port Orchard. They was out of them. But they had a nice BB Gun that I got. Quick stop at Fred Meyers: Nope. Out. Stopped at Ace on the way home “just in case,” and, guess, yep, they had a set that was only $2 more then a similiar set would be at Walmart. (But let’s not mention the gas I used to needlessly run around town!) (I said don’t mention it!)

Picked up a pizza on the way home. Puttered around until dinnertime. Cooked up the pizza and watched the latest Star Wars move (which we hadn’t seen yet). I didn’t think the movie was that good (story wise) but the company was great!

Looks like this is going to be another “Summer That Never Was” what with the weather being overcast and way cooler. It sucks when that happens.

Looks like Hillary is getting off scott free too. Didn’t expect any different since this is the most corrupt Administration that’s been in office since Momar. Still disappointed though.

Anywho, SWMBO is home now and it’s about my bedtime. Think I’ll go lay down and read.

City On The Edge Of Forever. Seattle.

So, I have mixed feelings about the “new & improved” “Special Effects” in the Star Trek: TOS Blu-Ray discs I got yesterday. I’ve already ripped the first season, and watched a couple of episodes, and have this thought: The “New & Improved” “Special Effects” aren’t that good. They sort of remind me of the “Special Effects” in “The Last Starfighter” (which did not look realistic at all). They look kinda good, but fake. But I’d have to rate them slightly better than the original effects. Hence the mixed feelings. But the enhanced video is great!

vlcsnap-00020Almost a fairly normal Sunday around here. Most of the chores are done. Most of the laundry is done. Spent most of the day ripping season 1 of Star Trek: TOS and some of SWMBO’s cd’s. Finished getting my “shack” and radio set back up after Field Day. Finally got rid of some of the mess on my counter-tops.

OTT, just not a lot going on. The MCARC Sunday 2-meter Chat Net went well; even if we had only 5 check-ins. All the signals were great tonight. Unusual.

Tomorrow we’ll be going to the annual pancake breakfast at the church. Then we may, or may not, “go for a drive.” I was thinking of just heading North on HWY 101 and seeing what we see. But SWMBO reminded me that I really want to work on that wire I need to move to finish putting that new cabinet in the wall. Hmmm. Take a drive with my Schweetie or do something around the house? Hmmm.

Anywho, that’s it. This Old Guy is off to bed and his book.

Goodnight, Chet. Goodnight, David.

Yesterday was a pretty normal day around here. But, after picking SWMBO up at the QFC, something Special happened. When we got home, SWMBO and I sat in my room just talking until way after my usual bedtime. I think we talked about most everything; including our Son, Patrick, that died back in 1991. Which we don’t do very often. (Either the talking that long or Patrick that much.) It was nice.

Saw This On The Way Home Yesterday

And, to top that off, today was our usual “date” day. I took her to the junk store in Shelton that’s going out of business and having a half-price sale. She bought a butt-ton of CD’s (which I’lll have to rip later) and I got a couple of blu-ray movies ($1/ea!). All in all she spent &17 mostly on cd’s.

Then dinner at Burger King cause I felt like a Whopper. (Every once in awhile I just get the urge for flame-broiled beef.) Then on to Walmart for “stuff.” Her “stuff” was a new iron. My “stuff” was The Complete Star Trek: TOS series on blu-ray and a new 2tb external drive (for backups of my “stuff” on my data drive). And we bought food.

So we’re home now. SWMBO is off in her room doing genealogy and going through the cd’s she got. I’m doing this and starting to rip the movies I got (The Shining and The Silence Of The Lambs). Will wait until tomorrow to start ripping Star Trek to .mp4 files for the TVDrive.

Holy Crap I’m A Boring Poster!

bwb04aJust not a whole heck of a lot going on around here yesterday. The afternoon got nice and sunny and warm so me and the Dog spent as much time out there as possible. Was still out there when SWMBO got home from work. (Dang! I like her getting home “one time!)

Today was  a day, for sure. Had to make a run to the Field Day site just North of Shelton to check that the gate was, in fact, closed and locked. Luckily for AE7VG, who needed to borrow the tennis ball gun, we managed to do that at the same time. Was a nice ride there and back.

bwb05aBut it really didn’t get sunny and warm until after 1400. Way after 1400. Nice when it did though.

Yeah, I know this is borning as shit; you don’t have to tell me. But, one day, way in the future, someone will stumble on an archive copy of all this and think “This is cool! But this guy was boring as shit drying in the sun.” So don’t sweat it. I mentioned a long time ago that I’m just an ordinary Old Guy American trying to live the American Dream on limited finances.

And SWMBO is home on time again. Man, I could get used to that!
