It’s Been A Couple Of Days…

And I ain’t posted cause NOTHING has been happening. Well, except for my B-I-L finally getting his own apartment and moving his stuff out. Don’t get me wrong; I like my B-I-L, I just think him living here 6 months is a bit too long. Probably 5.5 months too long.
Been playing with Magix Music Maker 12 and it is COOL! I spent hours last night ’making’ music. I absolutely love that program! Been playing with Poser 7 also; lot’s of stuff to learn there! Really hard for someone with absolutely NO artistic talent.
Weather has been strange all around us. LOTS of mountain snow. Some lowland stuff. We’ve had rain and rain and a mixture of rain and rain with the occasional mixture of rain and snow. When it wasn’t raining that is. But at least the sun came out for a few seconds today and shone through the rain. (Shone? Shined?)
Put my dump truck up for sale on Craig’s List. Let’s see how long it takes to get a few dipshit remarks… Truck is as old as I am!
Put a ad to give the cat away too. I am damned tired of that cat being too lazy to go outside to crap but instead slinks all the way to the front room and craps behind my desk. Not all the time. Not everyday. Hell, not even every time it rains. But about every 3-4 days or so. But I’m tired of it.
SMALLVILLE was pretty good tonight. (And finally not a rerun thank you very much!) I knew Grant was going to get it as soon as he walked out of his office. I only hope they keep his character alive; to give Lex another worry if nothing else. Is that a chink in the relationship between Clark and Lana? Cool! I know ’Superman’ is supposed to wind up with Lois, but I still hope Clark and Chloe get together. She has such a wide-on for him!

Snow? Did It Snow Somewhere Around Here?

Damned WeatherPerson’s anyway! And the weather too, I guess. For the last two days it’s been "Snow" this and "Snow" that. And I guess it has snowed a lot; everyplace but here! In some ways that doesn’t really bother me, in some ways it does. Oh, it did snow here for a few minutes but quickly turned to rain. Oh well… It Is Damned Cold Though.

Not much going on. Took Poop Dog out to the property and ran him around awhile. Damned cold out there too! Surprisingly, no snow. Lots of mud though! Poop Dog got really muddy and managed to spread it around the inside of my truck on the way back. Now I need to take a couple of wet towels out to wipe up.

Other than that just been playing around with video files on my comuter. Making flv files to put up on my web site. SWMBO’s on vacation this week. SHE’S TAKEN OVER THE TV SET! (’Bout Time!)

Hello, is this the Sheriff’s Office?"

"Yes. What can I do for you?"

"I’m calling to report ’bout my neighbor Virgil Smith….He’s hidin’
marijuana inside his firewood! Don’t quite know how he gets it
inside them logs, but he’s hidin’ it there."

"Thank you very much for the call, sir."

The next day, the Sheriff’s Deputies descend on Virgil’s house. They
search the shed where the firewood is kept.
Using axes, they bust open every piece of wood, but find no
marijuana. They sneer at Virgil and leave.

Shortly, the phone rings at Virgil’s house.

"Hey, Virgil! This here’s Floyd….Did the Sheriff come?"

"Yeah!"

"Did they chop your firewood?"
"Yep! "

"Happy Birthday, buddy!"

Can I get any more boring than this? I’ll try next post.

A WEEK Has Gone By?

Damn! Where’d the time go? I know (and feel) that I’ve been busy, but, Damn! I really do try to post kinda regular… Guess I ought to catch up.

Sunday: Other than the first hour of Church I have absolutely no idea what I did last Sunday.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday: Went out to the property and moved dirt around all day(s). Was nice and sunny but COLD most of the time but I got a lot of work done. I think it’ll be ready the next storm that comes through. The hardest part was getting up around that part of the dome hole that washed away to put a trench across the path to drain the water AWAY from the dome hole. Kind of scary. I hate being up high and tilted while on the digger! It was FREEZING up there!

Thursday: Smallville was a repeat (AGAIN!) so I went to the meeting of a Ham Radio club at the Library in Belfair. Bunch of nice folks that really seem like they want to help us newbies get our ham licenses. One of the guys is going to set up a class or three for us and we’ll go from there. I’d like to get my ham license.

Friday: SWMBO and I went out for breakfast instead of dinner. Family Pancake House in PO. We’ve been there so much the waitresses (can I still call them that?) know us by ’hot chocolate & Dr. Pepper’. Had a great omlete though! Went out to the property in the afternoon to do some last minute stuff before the snow that’s being predicted this weekend.

Today: Mostly been working around the house with my usual dishes, laundry and cooking. SWMBO got up and left for her shift at the Genealogy Library and I just lounged around until my B.I.L. left for work. It was lightly snowing when he left but turned to mix for awhile then just rain for the rest of the day. It’s been FREEZING around here! The weatherperson is still predicting snow for us for the next couple of day; but I don’t think they really have any idea what’s going to happen weather-wise.

Put some pork chops in a pulled-pork sauce and cooked them in the slow cooker for 3 hours. They were so tender you could use a fork to cut them. Good! Added some pancit and broccoli in cheese sauce. I thought it was pretty good…

Been having fun with my camera making ’time-lapse’ video’s of me working around the clearing at the property and other things. Maybe I’ll post them on my site for anyone that wants to check out. Maybe I won’t. (Probably will. I’m that way.) In the meantime, if you’re interested, you can click here to see the sunrise I captured the other morning. It’s a solid 12mb though…

That’s about it. Been playing with Magix Music Maker this evening. Ordered the latest version earlier this week and eagerly awaiting arrival. Thought I’d done about as much as I could with this version but took a look at the demo arrangements and found that I’m NOT using all the capabilities of the program. Damned near makes me wish I could read music or had some kind of musical training!

Oops! Gotta put some wood on the fire. Later!

Alll You Can Eat Mongolian Grill

Got up early and got out of the house by 0930 this morning. Had to stop by the printing place to get some printouts of our dome plans for the finance folks. Even though the print shop uses mostly ink jet or laser printers there’s still enough of the smell of ink in the air to instantly bring back memories of me working with my dad in whatever print shop he worked in when I was young. Even memories of ’helping’ him at the Yuma Daily Sun when I was about 16. Took forever for me to get my prints today and cost $30!

Went on out to the property after the print shop and moved some dirt around for a couple of hours. Except for a couple of places you can’t hardly tell the road had any damage done during the Dec 07 storm. Now I gotta get the clearing and dome hole back in to shape. But at least you can drive all the way up to the dome hole now!

Got home about 1500 and SWMBO dragged me out for an early dinner at the Mongolian place over in Bremerton. Good food but I don’t know WHY I get the ’all you can eat’ Mongolian Grill. I only eat one plate full anyway. Usually by the time I’ve eaten that one plate of Mongolian, the 2 chicken wings they try to disguise as ’mini’ drumsticks, a bit of rice and drink several (small) cups of hot tea I’m stuffed. I think next time I’ll see about getting a regular meal that approximates the Mongolian Grill.

SWMBO and I went to Costco in Silverdale after dinner and spent WAY too much. The problem with buying in bulk like that is you HAVE to eat it before it goes bad. Things have a tendency to turn green if left out of the fridge (like bread & bagels) and we have a real bad habit of leaving fruits and veggies in the fridge until they make their own gravy. Celery is NOT supposed to make its own gravy! SWMBO doesn’t cook that often and if I don’t see it when I open the refrigerator then it doesn’t exist for me. (My memory is shot!) I’ll find things when I get around to clearing out all the leftovers we don’t eat during the week. We’ve learned not to put things in the lower 4 drawers cause they’ll eventually take on a life of their own. Now we just keep batteries in them. Our new fridge will have the see-through fronts on the drawers…

Home now and watching "Dog Fights". Not much else going on.

Oh, I’d left a message at the DVDVideoSoft folks website saying how much I liked their programs and thanking them for them. They sent me an email saying they’d mention my blog in their next newsletter. Cool! Along the same vein: I bought on2 technologies video to flash converter some time ago. I’ve had to rebuild my system for various reasons several times and each time I go to reinstall their converter I have to contact their company to get a new key; which means downloading a new version. Well, I finally got tired of having to do that for a program I paid for and feel I should be able to reinstall as many times as I want/need to without hassle (especially since DVDVideoSoft has a FREE one that works better!) and left them a message on their site saying so. Even mentioned they might want to check out the competition. And if I thought I could get it I’d ask for a refund.

Well, this morning I got a call from one of their salesmen/techs saying they’d refund my money as they’d rather have happy customers than not. And I’d have a free ’pro bono’ license for the program. That was really nice of them as I’ve had their program for over a year. However, later I got an email saying that I’d have to fill in a w4 (or something) and fax it back to them and it would be 4-6 weeks before I’d get my check. Sorry folks, it’s just not worth it. Y’all keep the bucks, I’ll delete the program and keep using the FREE one that does a better job anyway. Yes, I know they didn’t have to refund my money, and except for the hassle when reinstalling it’s been an okay program for what it was designed to do; it’s just not worth the hassle. For one thing I’d have to find someone with a fax machine! I really do appreciate the gesture though! I can say nothing bad about on2technologies.

And that’s it! Think I’ll reboot and go and let Russian Pilot #1 shoot my ass down AGAIN in Lock On. (Just can’t get him off my tail!)
