Wet. Windy. Power Flickering. Cool!

Each of my monitors has different backgrounds from our latest trips around. I find that, even though I enjoy all the pictures, those that pop up with my Lovely Young Bride of almost 30 years seem to be my favorite. I cannot help but smile each time I see her face on one of my screens! Wonder why that is?

Braved both downpour and traffic and drove to the COSTCO in Silverdale to “upgrade” my phone. Lady pulled up our account information and asked me for a password for our account. Password? What password? Nothing I could remember (which wasn’t much and included misremembering SWMBO’s last 4) worked. Holy Shit In A Handbasket. Wasted trip. More traffic, and rain, on the way home.

But I did stop and get a 3-piece chicken tenders $5 buck lunch on the way home. Not much consolation; but something. And I got what they were looking for from SWMBO after I got home.

Now the lights are flikering and I should probably turn my computer off before it goes out completely. Getting windy out there! Think I will shut down. Later.

I be back. Had a couple of flickers that reset the clocks (Thanks, Mother Nature!). Heard several reports of trees down across powerlines and roads a bit earlier. It did get rather windy out there. Hope the Ferry still runs tonight and SWMBO gets home.

A friend of mine, a new Technician, came over to take part in the MCARC 10-meter chat Net. Didn’t have a “net” exactly, but he did get to talk to someone else on 10-meters. Cool. Then we spent a couple ot hours doing “radio stuff” and just talking about different things. Was fun.

But it’s past my bedtime now.

Holy Hell It’s Wet Out There!

This whole area got absolutely drenched yesterday, is getting wet today, and is supposed to get drenched again tomorrow. I gotta put more effort into getting SWMBO to move to Arizona! And, just maybe, I’ll tag along! I’m purely sick of rain.

So, didn’t get a whole lot done today. The usual. It wasn’t raining long enough to take the Dog for a walk around the property. Once. (Had time to find out he freaks when you put him on the treadmill! I’m so mean.) Squishy out there!

Bo01bPlayed with those routers and the MeshNet stuff again. Just can not get that one rounter to reset. It’s starting to piss me off! So I unhooked everything and put it all away (semi-neatly) for a day or two. Get it out of my system, calm down, and it’ll go much better.

Anyway, that’s it. Boring SSDD.

But at least it’s raining. Again.

Day Trip To Astoria And Back!

Cool! Started out about 0730, got to Astoria about 1100, spent some time there before heading back, and was home by 1600. Cool! Rained pretty much the whole way. Actually, sprinkled, rained, downpoured, and variations thereof the entire trip. But it was nice being out with my Schweetie so I didn’t mind the wet. And there was a couple of times the sun came out and it was almost nice.

Montesano (I think). Breakfast.

Except when we climbed the 163 stairs of the Astoria Tower. I’m getting too old for this shit! Made it though and it was really windy and cold and we didn’t stay up there long; but it was fun seeing that with SWMBO. Resumed raining pretty hard when we got back to ground level. Hurried to the Gift Shop, where she bought a t-shirt, then we headed out.

Just before the bridge to go into Oredon

All in all a really nice day trip. Some really great scenery. And getting to talk with SWMBO.

The Love Of My Life! (And the Truck.)

Yesterday I went to a meeting of the Kitsap Amateur Radio Club over in Port Orchard. Nice meeting and saw a nice presentation on the HamWan stuff. Not sure if I’ll be going back though. No one (other than the guy I went there to see) introduced themsheves or had us introduce ourselves and I have mixed feelings about that. But, then, I run a completely different type of meeting and shouldn’t expect every other club to be that way.

163 Steps To The Top. 163 Back Down.

Anywho, looks like the Mesh stuff will be really short range and probably used mostly on Field Day if we get enough people participating. The 5.8 GHz HamWan stuff is extremely line-of-sight and probably won’t work for Mason County. (Lots of trees and mountains in the way.) However, the 900 MHz HamWan should work just fine even if it is a bit slower. And it can be “tunneled” into the other HamWan system.

So that might be the way Mason County will roll if anyone other than I gets interested in it. The equipment could cost about $200 per unit (which really ain’t bad) but setup seems pretty easy. I’m going to check it out more.

Other than that not much has been gong on around here. SSDD. Since we got home a bit earlier than I thought we would I’m just starting my usual Sunday chores. Probably won’t make dinner tonight as we’re still full from our last stop at MacDonald’s in Raymond, Wa on the way home.

MCARC Sunday Evening 2-meter Chat Net went really well. About 10 check-ins. Nice. Somehow I get to run next Wednesday’s Net. Cool!

I’m going to bed. I’m tired.

Only Wednesday or Wednesday Already?

You remember those burrito’s you got on the Roach Coach? Crispy, golden-brown, outsides. Piping hot inside from sitting too long under the heat lamp. One wasn’t enough and two were too many. I recreated that for lunch today. They was good!

Not a whiole lot going on today. As usual. The usual chores out of the way. Kitchen rugs are in the wash. Took the Dog for a walk. Made a run into town to the DOT to renew the Caravan tags. Stopped by my bank. Post Office to mail a letter.

Figured out how to play video’s on my truck MyLink system. Convert the video to 480p .mp4 and it works just fine. Bumped the audio up to 192 and the sound system handles it just fine. Sounds great! Wish I had that sound system in my house! Video plays pretty good. Need to figure out a way to HUD it onto the windshield. Only when parked, of course.

Decided I’d better clean the fridge. I’d never seen “puffy” sauerkraut before! Took about an hour and I got rid of things that’d been hanging around in there for more than a year. SWMBO keeps stuff “just in case” and forgets all about things expiring. But the spilled jello was the worst. All that took about an hour.

Made peanut butter cookies. Cause I could. You know, if I looked good in a mini-maid’s outfit I’d make someone a pretty good wife!

MCARC Wednesday 2-meter Chat Net went well. Eleven check-ins! Cool

Anywho, that’s about it for tonight.
