Old Doc King–Cyborg Wannabe

Drove to Olympia (via Shelton) for my appointment to get fitted for the CPAP thing. Only took about half an hour. The fitting; not the drive there and back. Was pretty even overcast. (The drive; not the appointment.)

Anywho, the thing hangs off my face like a giant zit that makes one breathe funny. Not funny Ha Ha, but funny as in it’s a bit more difficult to exhale. Which is the purpose of the thing. Back-pressure keeps the airway open so you can breathe easier. Or just breathe.

We’ll see. I laid down and tried to take a nap with the thing on. Not sure how it worked cause I fell asleep for only a second or so at a time. Once woke up with air being forced through my nose and out my open mouth. Gotta remember to keep my mouth shut. Which would please a lot of folks but we won’t get into that right now. Not to mention the perils of reverse snot-bubbles!

The little nose plug thingies (pillows) are kind of irritating too. That may just take getting used to though. Maybe they should shape the things more like your little finger? Might feel more natural that way.

Right now the darn thing makes me feel like I’m suffocating. Probably because I’m not used to it and not used to breathing warm air. Warm moist air. But IF I WANT TO LIVE I’ll have to get used to it.

Spent the rest of the day doing the usual. Took the Dog for a walk as it got fairly nice out. Not warm, by any means. But nice enough to sit out a few minutes.

Guess I’ll go hook myself up and try to get some sleep.
