What A Nice Hot Sunny Day!

Betty05aWe don’t get enough of these around here. Yesterday, it was overcast all day and got comfortable, but not really warm. Which is how most WaRshingtonians like it. Good thing I’m not a WaRshingtonian! Or, unfortunately, I’m not a WaRshingtonian.

Our usual date yesterday was nice. SWMBO took me to the FPH in Port Orchard cause she wanted some foo-foo thing with runny eggs over english muffins with some kind of cheesy stuff poured all over it. I had a chili-burger and fries.

Spent $35 at the Dollar Store across from the FPH. Who’d a thunk you could spend that much in a dollar store? Got a couple of really big glasses (with handles) for days like today. And a bunch of other stuff. What can I say; it was the Dollar Store.

Made our usual stop at Safeway this week (instead of Walmart). We haven’t been buying anything that has to go into the freezer cause our freezer is stuffed; and still managed to spend $100 on food. No wonder I’m fat.

Betty01aToday has been the most usual Sunday around here. Except SWMBO went over to a friends after church to help her with her genealogy. She is a Genealogy Consultant. I spent a butt-ton of time outside (since it’s 90 degrees and sunny) working on my garden area. Put some left over wire fencing over the top so the peas have a place to branch out. Multiple walks around the back of the property. (Dog said NO WAY. Too Hot!)

She’s home now and making steak for dinner. Add fresh corn on the cob, and mac-n-cheese (for some reason) and dinner should be ready in a few. (Was good!)

Not sure if I’m Net-Control for the MCARC Sunday 2-meter Chat Net or not. We’ll find out shortly. Nope, Ric was on. Several check-ins including the Repeater guys who were up working on the thing. It goes into a reset loop occasionally now. SO glad we got a new Repeater. (Oh, wait. We did but it ain’t working yet.)

Went out and practiced with my drone after the Net. Didn’t run into anything but still making hard landings. So had it messes up whatever video I had it taking. Zero’s out the file and it’s no good. ??? I’ll keep playing with it though. And the drone too!

And that’s it. Think I need a rinser before hitting the rack. It was hot today.

Happy Moon Day, World!

On this date in 1969, I was attending the Upward Bound Program at Arizona Western College just outside Yuma, Arizona. But, like almost everyone in the World that could, I was glued to the (small black and white) tv we had in the Dorm TV Room; watching as Men (American Men at that!) landed and walked on the moon. Astounding!

Now, I live in a World where one day no one had ever walked on the Moon, and the very next day, two men had. That was just amazing.

Of course, I think we ought to have colonized the Moon by 1980. I’d have volunteered to go (in a freakin’ heartbeat!!). But we didn’t. And we won’t until long after I’m a faded memory in a photo albulm somewhere. Which is too bad. Sometimes I curse Heinlein, Clarke, Del Ray, and a lot of other authors for getting me all excited about space. (But not often.)

Not a whole lot going on around here today. Nice outside so the Dog and I took off all our clothes and took a walk around the back 40. Mowed the front-upper and front yards and the path we walk around. Nice out there! Damned nice out there!
Moved some things around to make room for a dump truck to dump a load of that compost/dirt we get. Will probably order that tomorrow (when it’s supposed to rain some). Today I ain’t getting dressed to go anywhere. Already did that to check mail.
So I spent the rest of the day just farting around outside as much as possible. Had to chase the neighbors-from-Hell dog off. (Every year they get a new dog. I think they lose their dogs to wild life in the forest back there.  Every year I get to train a new dog to the sound of pumping up my BB gun.)
Anywho, I’m outta here.

Another Really Nice (Naked) Day Out

bwb02aLoaded up that pile of wood I have for my friend yesterday, left the house about 1115 today to take it to him. Everything was going great until traffic came to a complete stand still just past Mullinex on HWY 16. Brush fire. We were stopped there about half an hour.

Finally got to my friends house and unloaded the wood. Maybe that’s one tire he won’t have to burn to stay warm. Left his place and went the back way to Mullinex to HWY 16. Figured all the hubbub should have been over by then. Wrong! Got caught in the traffic jam going the other way.

bwb03aBut eventually I got back home and have been “puttering” around since. Put my shorts back on and went down and trimmed that Sycamore tree cause it was getting to where the meter-person wouldn’t be able to see our electric meters. And it’s spreading out into the yard. In our drainage field. No telling what the hell it’s doing to that. I may have to just pull the whole thing out. Another couple of years will tell.

Took the Dog for a walk around the back 40. Vegitation is looking thick back there! Trimmed some of the blackberry bushes trying to enroach on the path/trail we use. (Probably should have worn pants for that.)

Practiced flying my drone some more. Got some good video going over the top of the house. Didn’t crash into anything even once; unless you count hard landings. Need to learn not to be so heavy handed on the controls though. Those crazy tilts in the video can make one dizzy.

And that is it for today. SWMBO is home on time again and she finished out the last Harry Potter movie with me.

64 Down. 64 To Go. Hopefully!

Yes, today was my 64th and pretty much like any other Monday around here. The usual chores. Still cleaning out and straightening up the Caravan from this past weekend. Extra laundry with the Caravan stuff.

It was really sunny and hot today though; so that’s kind of special. After I made a PO run to get SWMBO’s package, me and the Dog took all our clothes off and spent as much of the day outside as we could. I even mowed the front-lower and back yards! And the path that we walk around the back of the property. So I shouldn’t have to do that again for at least a week. (But I still need to get out with the whack-weeder. And the neighbors insist that I be covered when I do that. Bastards.)

SWMBO got home early tonight! Well, really, she got home on time tonight. She didn’t have to work late. Cooooooolllll!!!!!

So I’m gonna go spend some of my birthday time with her.

She’s still my favorite present.
