That I’d swear I saw salmon swimming up my driveway. Man, it’s wet out there! We’re even under a flood watch until noon tomorrow.

Looks like we’re moving into the regular rain instead of the downpour we’ve been having.

Not a whole Hell of a lot has been going on around here. Taking SWMBO to the ferry landing in the mornings; picking her up at QFC in the evenings. SSDD as far as my usual chores. Still meaning to get down in the basement and get some straightening up done.

Haven’t been able to take the Dog for any walks, but I have got him to where I can chase him around the big room without him just turning onto his back and laying there. Maybe he’s getting used to me/us/this place. He still runs with his butt tucked under him though.

Well, quit raining enough to take the Dog for a walk. The ground is mushy! Even my packed crushed-rock driveway has a sinking feeling to it when one steps on it. The back-40 is soaked and there is water puddled everywhere. Our backyard river has started up again. All my “catch-basins” are overflowing. It’s Wet Out There!

The wire holding my long-wire dipole between two trees has come loose on one end. It’s still caught up in the tree somewhere, but the wire itself is drooping about 30 feet lower than usual. Need to get the tennis ball gun again. And, Damn, it’s mushy out there!

Took the Dog along for a trip to the Post Office. If he didn’t know what “that windows” was before, he does now. Got a hamburger patty out of the stop. I got the $5 3-piece chicken lunch. That’ll probably do me for the rest of the day.

Thought I heard a “thump” from out there someplace. Window’s slightly shook.

Very Wet when going to pick SWMBO up tonight. Our road is mostly mud with some really deep potholes. Almost needing to put the truck in 4-wheel drive!

And that’s it. We be home. MCARC 2-meter chate net went well.

It has been raining since we got back from our trip. Not steady nor all the time, but, close enough. I’ve been able to get out for a walk without getting rained on a couple of times. And it’s really been coming down today! I’m starting to hear reports of trees falling over from being soaked.

Can’t say that I’ve been particularly busy or anything. Just haven’t felt like posting. Still have my “daily routine” with my usual chores and such; but haven’t done very much beyond that. Been scanning a LOT of pictures trying to get all those done and put away.

Last Saturday, during our usual Walmart stop on the way home from eating (at El Sombrero’s this time) SWMBO bought me the complete Twilight Zone series. On DVD but still, all 150+ episodes. So I’ve been ripping and converting them for the NAS and having a Twilight Zone marathon. Cool!

I also picked up the complete James Bond collection on Blu-Ray for my Father-in-law for Christmas. He’s a BIG fan. SWMBO is going to pick up a Blu-ray player (soon I hope) so we can get both in the mail soon.

Turns out: I am a Dog person and I miss having a Dog around. I still miss my Dog but started looking around for breeds of Dog’s that stay between 15-20 pounds and short haired. The problem I have is that all the “adoption” places want $200+ (usually around $400) to “adopt” a Dog. Sorry, probably not happening.And I guess those places don’t realize how many Dog’s they have to kill because they are just too out-priced for most of us. Dipshidiots.

Got to pick SWMBO up at the QFC tonight. Cool! Rained the whole time I was out though.

Anywho, that’s all that’s been going on around here. Raining. Scanning. Choreing. Ah, the Retired Life.

Yesterday, I took the coward’s way out. I could not watch them put Jack “to sleep.” Thought I could, but when it came right down to the moment I couldn’t. Hell, I couldn’t even tell the woman at the front desk that we needed to do it. Got as far as “I think we need to arrange for” then locked up crying right in front of everyone. So we got to one of the exam rooms, the Vet came in and talked for awhile, they took him and did it.

What’s “funny” is that, 27 years ago I was there when our 18 month old Son (Patrick) died. The next year I was there when my Mom died. (In fact, made the decision not to resuscitate her when she finally started to fail.) But I couldn’t be there for a stupid Dog. Fuck.

So yesterday, aside from the heavy rain, wasn’t a very good day. Spent most of the afternoon eating candy bars and missing my Dog.

Today I made a Netflix run and stopped by ACE Hardware for some things. Got out in the rain and guyed my 6BTV antenna so I don’t have to keep taking it down when the wind kicks up.

Kept looking around to make sure Jack was okay and hadn’t wandered off. I’m just so used to having him along and looking after him. Fuck.

I get to pick SWMBO up this evening then run her to her class in Gig Harbor. She’s made some kind of pudding stuff for their Halloween celebration and I have to remember to take that along. It’s also why I get to pick her up tonight. Something about not wanting pudding to sit in her car all day or something like that. (Almost like it’ll go bad and poison everyone.) Means I’ll get to see her several hours earlier but I also get to sit in the truck for THREE (3!) HOURS waiting on her. Gotta remember to take my tablet.

Finally got into the basement and started making piles. One pile for recycling or donating. One pile for trash. One pile of wood and wood scraps that I might need someday. Have 3 large boxes of CD cases that I’ll probably never use again. I have a butt-ton of cabinet doors. (Which are the spendy parts of cabinets.) Did so much straightening up that you can actually move around down there again. (At least in that one area.) Cool!

Our Storm: Petered out mostly. Lots of rain and a few gusts of wind, but nowhere the wind storm “they” were predicting. Good for us though. Still heard many reports on the local repeaters & Police/Fire of downed trees, downed/burning wires, and power outages all around the area. Our power flickered a couple of times but didn’t go out even once. Cool!

Other than that just busy around the house getting things done I wasn’t able to do while on vacation. Took SWMBO to her Doctor’s appointment this morning then dropped her off at the Ferry terminal before coming home.

Oh, yesterday I went through a prodrome but never got much of a headache. Still had a serious case of the “blah’s” though. Pretty much ruined my day.

ARES Net and the NMARES Net went well tonight. Still need to move my antenna. But I did get my antenna into a better lightning collection position (upright) so I can at least participate in some of the nets. Still want to put it up on the roof though. Now I have to wait for dry weather though.
