Dang! I Forgot!

Regarding the previous entry: Don’t know why I forgot to tell what happened.

Was coming back from the property the other day and came to a spot in the road with what looked like fresh skid marks (hadn’t noticed them on the way in) leading into the bushes offroad. Slowed down but I didn’t see a car so I figured there’d been an accident that had been cleared. About a mile further along the road a Sheriff was speeding in with red lights and siren going (Code 3). About another mile a Paramedic & Fire truck came along Code 3. About half a mile further and 6 (SIX) Sheriff’s cars, all Code 3, passed going back to where I’d just come from. About a mile down the road and another Sheriff came Code 3. Then about another mile another sheriff (just going fast, no code) passed going back towards where I’d just come from. Seems like it may have been a good thing that I didn’t see a car and stop!

Today started out a normal Sunday. After the first session of church I headed out to the property to move some trees around. About 1500 SWMBO and our friends from across the street showed up to cut some wood. And we cut a LOT of wood! Bob’s older than I and he really appreciated having my Digger to lift the logs to waist height for cutting! So we did that for awhile, stopped and had hot dogs & chips then finished cutting the wood up. We did probably 1.5 cords or more. They’re going to get a trailer tuesday or wednesday and we’ll go out and load up as much as we can.

And that’s about it. Put the stills from the Air Show up on my webshots site and my personal gallery for all to peruse at their leisure. Still trying to figure out what to do with all the short video’s from the Air Show.

2008-07-19-Do You Do It Like I Do It?

This is what was going on with all those police the other day:

MASON COUNTY, Wash. — A Belfair man has been rushed to the hospital after being shot by sheriff’s deputies on Friday night.

Sheriff’s spokesman Dean Byrd said deputies received a call at 6:39 p.m. from a woman who said she had spotted her stolen truck in the parking lot of a Subway restaurant in Belfair.

The truck had been painted a different color, the woman said, but she was certain it was hers.

By the time deputies arrived at the location, the truck driver had already taken off. Deputies then began combing nearby roads and soon spotted the truck.

The driver, however, refused to pull over and led deputies on a chase down State Route 300. During the chase, Byrd said the driver made hand gestures and threw things at the patrol car.

Minutes later, the driver veered off the roadway, hit a pole and went down an embankment near Haven Lake, which is about 15 miles northwest of Belfair.

After he crashed, the driver jumped out of the car with a handgun pointed at the deputies, Byrd said, prompting two deputies to shoot him.

The driver was hit an unknown number of times and was rushed to Harborview Medical Center. His name and condition were not released.

It is not known whether the driver fired any shots at the officers.

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case.

No wonder I didn’t see a vehicle when I looked into the bushes!

Friday was our date ’night’ as usual. Went to see the 1130 showing of "Wall-E". Cute movie. We didn’t have the theater all to ourselves this time. There were 6 or 8 others. Luckily they were pretty quiet. SWMBO splurged on a bucket of popcorn (as we were both hungry). $7! For a tub of popcorn. Dayamn! Made our usual Albertson’s stop on the way home. We really are creatures of habit…

Got up early this morning and left the house at 0800 to go to the Air Show at McChord AFB.Was nice. Walked about 5 miles looking at all the planes. Talked to a bunch of active duty types and thanked them for their service. Talked for awhile with the pilot of an F15C Eagle (NICE PLANE!) The UH1-N helo brought back a butt-ton of memories from when I was much younger and catching every flight I could at NAS Lemoore. Left the show early and didn’t see the Thunderbirds. Was Hot. Sweaty. Tired. And there was too much crowd around to wait another hour or so to see them.

Stopped at Costco, stopped at home for a few then went out to the property and worked awhile. It was Nice out there! Now I’m just chillin and working on the video I made today at the airshow.

Ain’t Been Doin’ Nuttin’.

Cept hanging around the house. Did get out to the property for the usual last Tuesday. Was a beautiful day! Wednesday was a pretty normal day what with SWMBO heading in to work and me trying to finish things up around the house. Today SWMBO and I got out and mowed & trimmed the lawn. I like doing things with her!

Spent most of last evening going through my MP3 Working directory and finally editing the mp3’s I’ve recorded from the Internet radio stations. I’ll record 5 or 6 hours straight usually then eventually edit it into 15 minutes tracks for a cd to play in the truck. Discovered something called "Chill". Nice. Mellow. Heard a song called "Underground" by the Sneaker Pimps (at least that’s what the song bar said) that I really liked. Can you believe I would listen to something by someone called the Sneaker Pimps!?

We’ve redesigned our house. Trying to centralize all the plumbing and such for economy reasons. I like the new design better than the old one…

Did see a couple of (F-22?) Raptors fly over our house at about 500 feet today. Too Cool! Think I’ll go to the Air Show at McChord AFB Saturday…

Nice Hot Sunny Day!

And I’m stuck at home. Damn! Been out to the property every chance I have and it’s just too damned expensive. Funny though: I was looking at my speedometer and it says in the last 3.5 years I’ve put 44.8k on the truck. Now, other than a trip to (Chehalis? Wherever those floods happened last December) and a couple of trips to Yelm to look at that dome being built, most all those miles have been put on going out to the property and back. Mostly. So, if we use an AVERAGE of $3.00/gal for gas (cause way back when gas cost $1.90/gal and now it costs $4.30/gal and I’m just using made-up numbers anyway) and I get 350 miles per 12 gallons, then I’ve spent $4608.00 in gas running around. (Let’s see: 44800 miles / 350 miles per tank = 128 tanks * (12*3) $36 per tank (average) = $4608) Confused? Me too! And I don’t even want to get into how much I’ve spent for Diesel putting the road in and other stuff around the property!

Saturday and Sunday (after the first session of church) I went out to the property and moved trees around and pushed over a few more. Only have about 20 more to do to clear where we’re going to build the house. (IF we ever build this house. I tell ya: if THIS doesn’t work out I’m getting a mobile home to put up there! ) Weather has been absolutely wonderful and I probably spent as much time laying out and reading as I did working.

Made a run to Staples this morning to buy one of those earphone/microphone thingies so I can try to teach Vista to ignore me when I talk to it. At the checkout counter SOMEHOW we got on the subject of Age. I told the girl, "You know how to tell you’re getting old? You’re getting old when you ask a perfect stranger at the checkout counter "Is my t-shirt on backwards?"

Well, back to stacking wood…
