So, I bought this ACEPC mini-computer. It’s about as square as a CD case and about 4 high in thickness. (Official name is: ACEPC Mini PC Intel Celeron J3455,4K HD Graphics Windows 10 Pro Mini Computer,4GB DDR3/64GB eMMC,Gigabit Ethernet,Dual Band Wi-Fi,Bluetooth 4.2) And even though it’s Windows 10, it’s working just fine. Can’t believe how good it works for being so small!
I got it hanging on the wall to unclutter my desktop some. It’s going to be my “radio” computer because it’ll run “Ham Radio Deluxe” (the free version cause the commercial version is shit). Already installed, hooked up to my yaesu 857d, and working just fine.
It’s also going to be the machine I post from since it runs Open Live Writer; which I haven’t been able to get working properly in Linux (any flavor). So, when I get back into my groove and back to posting more y’all will be able to blame Windows 10 on this mini-pc.
Haven’t posted cause, well, I just haven’t. COVID still has everyone in virtual lockdown (but a lot of us, except for masks, are just going about our lives). SWMBO and I still get out for our Friday date (Red Lobster today!). Trips to Walmart or WinCo and pretty much anywhere else we “need” to go. Even Home Depot! But I don’t post cause I just don’t feel like it. Could be the depression kicking in; or it could be, I don’t know.
And you don’t want to get me started on Masks! (You really don’t.)
Got a ladder rack for my truck and modified it to sit lower so I didn’t have to take a step stool along to put things on it. Nice looking but a bit noisy when driving. (Was noisy even before I “modified” it so that wasn’t the cause.) Now I’ll be able to carry my own stuff from Home Depot instead of paying the $100 delivery fee.
Finally had the colonoscopy a couple of weeks ago. My first. SWMBO was right when she said the prep was worse than the exam. That prep! Whew! Wasn’t sure it was going to work but everything cleared up about a half hour before we had to leave for my appointment. Guess it was okay cause they didn’t have me repeat it. They found and removed 7 polyps though, so I have to go back in 3 years. Bummer! (But better safe than sorry.) Whatever they used to knock me out worked good!
They also found my “roids” and referred me to a butt-Doc for that. He took one look and said “Oh, yeah. Those need to be removed.” But he’s having me see a Cardiologist first to be sure I’ll survive the surgery. (They’re bad enough for surgery instead of banding. Ugh.)
Everyone keeps asking me when I had my heart attack! I don’t remember having one. My regular Doc asked after a cardiogram. The Anesthesiologist for the colonoscopy asked before putting me under (something about E-Waves). And even the Butt-Doctor (senior moment. Oh, Proctologist!) asked about it. So, maybe going to the Cardiologist will be a good thing. (Or not.)
Otherwise, things are pretty much SSDD all around. Not accomplishing much around the house because of the twisted knee but it’s finally starting to get better. A Bit. Normal daily routine stuff takes up some time. Working on new computer’s, old computers, and playing on the radio eats us some other time. Taking care of SWMBO takes up a lot of time. (Sorta.)
Got kicked off Tumblr (hard to do, I know) so I’ve gone totally social media free. Haven’t used FB in a couple of months. Finally uninstalled Messenger (since it wouldn’t let me post anyway. Something about posting something against their rules; which is strange since I haven’t been of FB or Messenger in months) so I’m not spending hours a day dong that.
Reading more. Which is scary. Finished “Twilight Eyes” (again) and could NOT remember how it went. Rereading “Rendezvous With Rama” right now, which I’ve read at least 5 times since I was 15, and can NOT remember any specifics about it. That’s the scary part. The Good part is that all the books I have in my collection may be all “new” to me even though I grew up reading them.
Anywho, that’s probably more than anyone wanted to hear.
