Wasn’t Going To Post Today

But it’s still early enough to do so. But I really wasn’t going to post because I’m still slightly pissed from this morning. Damn, I Hate Driving To Seattle. Especially In “Rush Hour.” Which it ain’t.

SWMBO did her usual farting around this morning and missed the Ferry. So she calls me (I was on the way home) to come get her and take her to Seattle. She is quite lucky I love her more than I hate driving in Seattle and it was her first day on the new (full-time) job! So she got dropped off 20 minutes later than she was supposed to be there and I finally got back home about 1000 with a gas tank on fumes. I had to pee!!!

So, recuperated awhile before pouring the remaining gas from the gas can into my tank (about a gallon) and went to town and filled up. Dropped the Renter’s check off at the Bank. Stopped by Safeway for milk (2 donuts & a bag of bagels).

Finally got to take a shower about 1500. Thank Goodness! Danged cold and partially wet today outside. I actually turned the heater on for a bit this afternoon. Damn!

Picked SWMBO up this evening. Stopped at Safeway for some stuff she needed. Got home and tuned in to the MCARC 10-meter Chat Net but no one was there. N7YGE answered me when I called out to see if anyone was listening and we talked awhile. Didn’t hear anyone else though.

And that is about it for tonight. Think I’ll watch the last episode of CNN’s The Sixties and go to bed.

Nice Wx Day! Too Bad I’m Busy.

All the usual chores plus trying to finish up the MILA (only have swabbing to go). Then got into painting the MILA cabinet doors. Did manage to lay out for about half an hour. Oh, weeded & watered the garden and tried to point the peas to the thing they’re supposed to climb. And I mowed the garden area. I hate that the grass has grown higher than any of the veggies I’ve planted!

Just waiting to go pick SWMBO up and I think I’ll be through for the evening. Maybe I’ll let Doctor Who run all weekend…

The 2014 Yellowstone trip-Day 3

Got up and got an early start  to Yellowstone. Highway was just as pretty as it was the day before.

Had to pay to get in this time. Then got caught in a “traffic jam” that was about a mile in front of us and probably grew to be all the way back to the West Entrance before we got to the head of the line of cars and saw what was slowing everyone down. After about an hour in line we found out it was 2 Buffalo playing in the road. Only a car or two could get past them at a time before they’d go back in the center of the road. But at least it wasn’t something stupid! (Then I’d have gotten pissed! I know me.)

I let SWMBO pick our destinations so she could have some fun too. So we spent a good part of the day in the Norris area; looking at all the geysers and the “Artist’s Pots” (where the mud bubbles) and places like that. I had a ball!

Spent so much time looking at these things that about 1430 I was ready to call it quits. The crowds were horrendous! We were going to go to see Old Faithful but neither of us really wanted to deal with the crowds anymore. I’m telling you: It Was Packed! We decided to save Old Faithful for another trip. (Get There EARLY!!)

So we drove back into West Yellowstone and did some shopping. SWMBO got a couple of T-Shirts (Cougars and something else) and I got a Trilobite. Then we stopped in a cute little café and had a snack. She had a root beer float and I had a chocolate malt. It was good.

After a couple of hours of window shopping we took off and went back to the camp ground in Ennis. We were both tired. Shower felt good then it was time to just relax. Saw a double rainbow! That was cool! Had a pretty good “midnight” snack and then it was sleepy time.

SWMBO got a pretty bad sunburn on her arms and neck.

Just Another Day In Paradise. Not!

It’s pretty “normal” around here so far. Cloudy with some sprinkles. Doing my morning absolutions getting ready for the rest of the day. Got to run my friend’s camera back to him over in Olalla and I want to get that done early.

Spent the rest of my day just doing the usual. Tried making a “scanner” out of one of my film scanners to handle the big negatives we got from SWMBO’s deceased Uncle. Worked but I need to figure out how to (re)focus the camera. I even made my own “light box.”

The 2014 Yellowstone trip-Day 2

I was up early; something about sleeping in a tent, I guess. But I usually wake up early anyhow. Had to wait around until at least 0800 for the office of the Ennis RV Park to open so we could actually check-in and take care of the “rent.” Had breakfast and finished setting up anything we didn’t get to before crashing the night before.

The drive (about 80 miles) to Yellowstone down Highway 287 was absolutely beautiful! The houses out there are actually far enough apart for me. Lots of really nice scenery with mountains and valleys and rivers. Saw Buffalo next to the road just north of “Earthquake Lake” and stopped to take some pictures. Went past “Earthquake Lake” and “The Lake That Tilted” before turning right to head into West Yellowstone.

Short sleeves and snow. Go figure! Dunraven Pass, I think.

For some reason all the power was out in West Yellowstone so the Ranger at the entrance to Yellowstone was just handing out the fliers/info packets and letting people into the park for free. Too Cool!

So, we went to Canyon Village then took the Northern route to Tower-Roosevelt to Mammoth Hot Springs then back to West Yellowstone. Yes, we stopped and took a lot of pictures on the way! Yes, I had a great time! SWMBO got to take a picture of a bear! Cool! Saw lots of great scenery and drop-offs from the road (mostly on SWMBO’s side of the truck). Saw way too many Buffalo and even managed to get some pictures of some Big Horn Sheep up-slope. Cool! Tower Fall was cool!

But, wouldn’t you know, I got a headache. After Mammoth Hot Springs I just couldn’t get into more traveling than we still had to do, so we cut it a bit short and headed back to the camp site. Still spent most of the day in Yellowstone so I didn’t feel bad about just heading back.

So we went back to Ennis and just chilled for the rest of the night. SWMBO made some chicken/noodle stuff for dinner. She got to play with her genealogy on her tablet. I watched some video’s on Yellowstone Super Volcano on YouTube. We hit the rack about 2200 cause we were beat.

Mostly, day 2 was a success, for me. Seemed like SWMBO had a good time also; and that’s good. Except for the crowds it was pretty nice. Unless you had to use “stinky restroom!” Which we did. And, yes, it really stank.

The Area That Slid Off & Created Earthquake Lake. The Night Of Terror!

Stopped at the little museum thingie at Earthquake Lake on the way back to the camp site. Side of a mountain slid off into the old lake and, basically, cut it in two. Drowned a bunch of folks and flooded a bunch of folks out. I got pictures of the slide area. Lots of dirt moved there!

We Be Back From Yellowstone!

And what a most excellent trip it was! Spent a day driving there, two days in Yellowstone, then a day coming back. Kind of a quick “camping” trip but well worth it. I cannot tell you how much I enjoy spending time with my Schweetie!

Got back in about 2000 last night and had time for a quick shower before hitting the rack. Tired! So tired I fell asleep almost as soon as my head hit the pillow. Haven’t done that in years.

Today, I had to set the tent trailer back up to clean it out. Started washing the dirty clothes we accumulated over the past 4 days. Re-washed the dishes from the trailer. Took the Dog for a walk. Trip to the Post Office to pick up a box of her deceased Uncle’s old pictures the in-laws sent us. Started our dishes. Took my radio out of the truck and set up back up in my room and made sure it’s working okay. Mowed “my” yard. And it’s only 1320!

Got up at 0300. Out of the house by 0400. What a lovely day! Started out kind of misty but cleared up by the time we hit I-90. Trailer handles just fine but my truck can really slow down going up hill. Depending on the grade of the up part. Made a few stops for gas and “rest” stops but pulled into Ennis, Montana around 1900. Plenty of time to set up the tent and get a shower before collapsing in bed. Even saw some streaks of lightning before turning off I-90 in Whitehall. Cool!

Of course, I uploaded my (unsorted) pictures  to my Flickr account already. Go take a look!

Nice! Having some Thunder. Gotta unplug my antenna’s.

Maybe more later. Gotta post this so I can move things around. Headache now. Wx change brings them on.
