Thursday? Again? Didn’t We Have One Last Week?

My Lovely-Young-Bride and I went for a day trip to Leavenworth, WA yesterday. Was fun being out with her and she did a real good job of walking around. Going over Snoqualmie Pass we ran through some rain, snow, rain, snow, and rain. Not enough snow to stick to the road but enough to see. Cleared up rather nicely before we got to town.

On The Main Drag

Walked all around Leavenworth and spent too much on “stuff.” I bought two 5-liter boxes of Apple Cider (it’s good, but not as “tangy” as the last box I bought) and SWMBO made inroads in the Quilt Shop inventory. (Five liters sounds like a lot. It’s only 1.3 gal. So, yes, I paid $20/gal for squished apples.)

We left at 0800 and got back at 1800 and did 376 miles but used a whole tank of gas. Was so empty the “YOU’RE GONNA RUN OUT OF FREAKIN’ GAS!” warning kept flashing. This truck does not get as good gas mileage as my last (6-cyl) Silverado did. (Nor does it ride as well. But it pulls our 23 ft RV lots better!)

Did this crappy video the other day and posted to my YouTube channel. Thought I’d try to show that ACEPC I bought doing some “games.” Anyone can tell I’m not a professional act-tor or anything. Would have used OBS but I didn’t want to use more memory and make what I was trying to show work worse.

NMARES monthly meeting On-Air tonight. Went ok but now I may be participating in Winter Field Day this next January. SOTA & POTA. Last meeting for the year.

Trying to update my photo’s on my other site. Man, my Internet is slow! So I’m thinking I should try to run my own server on one of the pi’s and (somehow) Google sites thingie. There’s a YouTube video on it somewhere…

Just A Ray Of Sunshine Is All I Need

Emptying a can of Beef Veggie Soup into the pot I’m warming it in, I reflected, while spooning out the last dregs of soup in the can, that my Great-Grandma would have severely chastised me for scraping the inside of the can in my efforts to get every drop I paid for. “You wanna get lead poisoning and die?!” would have come easily from her lips.

To which I had better have a respectful “No, Ma’am.” or Grandpa would have kicked my butt. (But we don’t have to worry about that particular threat nowadays. Thank goodness.)

Our Driveway. We're saving up for color next year!

Yesterday was Date Day with the lovely SWMBO. Got her up kinda early and we went for a day trip. Drove through Bremerton (on 3 North) by Poulsbo to Port Gamble (Where we’d never been before and SWMBO found a nice little quilt shop), back to Highway 104 with a side trip to Port Ludlow and the back way to Port Townsend (seems to be a pattern here), back through Discovery Bay to Sequim (the ‘e’ is silent), to Port Angeles, Highway 101 back to just north of Shelton and the back way to Home in Belfair. Nice Day! Great Company!

Got to let Wiz (the Dog) run free on the beach in Port Townsend and down by Shelton. He chased some birds into the water and didn’t want to come out. He’s a water dog. Which is okay but we didn’t know. You could see he didn’t like the taste of sea water but that didn’t keep him out of it.

I had a great time being out with SWMBO. She’s a pretty good Navigator too.

Not a lot going on today. Reading how some folks wish bad on President Trump and Wife for getting the COVID. Those people should be dragged into the street and shot. Even I wouldn’t wish disease on my worst enemy. (Which I’m not sure I have any; but still …).

Scanning my Uncle’s pictures and ripping CD’s. Up to the “K’s” now.

Dang! Forgot to post this last night!

SWMBO had her friends over to watch conference and quilt. I made home made vanilla ice cream for all of us after lunch. They seemed to like it.

So, today was kind of a lazy day.  About all I did was pull down some dead tree’s along the driveway and feed them to the trash fire. Rendered the last of the tomato crop into tomato sauce. No spices except for a bit of salt and pepper so we can use it how we please later. Burned trash.

Took the easy way out for my dinner: Got 2 cups of water boiling and added fresh peas. Broke up a hamburger patty and browned it. Drained and mixed that in the hot water with a package of “instant” mashed potato’s. Seasoned to taste and that was my dinner. SWMBO is on her own tonight. (I also cooked breakfast this morning.)

Anywho, Wx has turned and now it’s at least sweater time. Sux.

We’re Back!

Did anyone even notice we were gone? Probably not, but I will proceed anyway.

Left here (by myself) Aug 11 to begin a 7443.8 mile circle around this great (BIG!) country or ours to attend the Hollie Reunion in Pickwick Landing, Tennessee and visit SWMBO’s parents in Oregon, Ohio for awhile.

Sept 11th I took off and made it to the Mountain Home AFB Family Campground before I had to stop for the night. Nice, quiet place to stay and cost only $15.

2019-08-11-

Sept 12th got up early and made it to Midway, Utah to spend the night with friends.

2019-08-12-

Sept 13th, wait, you don’t want me to cover my trip day by boring (for YOU) day? Ok. I can live with that.

2019-08-14-

Stopped in Tucumcari, New Mexico for two days to visit the Dinosaur Museum and Trian Museum. Tucumcari is about dead. Everything off the highway is pretty much abandoned and I spent a couple of hours taking pictures of it. Had a pretty nice lightning storm off in the distance though. And the traffic going by sounded like distant thunder. Was HOT though!

2019-08-16-

Spent four days visiting my Uncle in Henderson, Texas. Got to help him pack for his move to Mississippi that he’s about to make. He also gave me three boxes full of notebooks of genealogy “stuff” for SWMBO; which I had to make room for in the RV. But She would have severely chastised me if I hadn’t!

2019-08-22-

Drove to Pickwick Landing, Tennessee Thursday and parked the RV. Got up Friday and drove to Memphis to pick SWMBO up. We stopped at a MacDonald’s on the way back to Pickwick Landing, and I came down with Food Poisoning a few hours later. Spent 6 hours puking my guts out when I wasn’t experiencing the joys of explosive diarrhea. But the last time I puked I could tell it was over and all I had to do was recover by the Saturday reunion.

2019-08-25-

I was pretty sore all over (from puking) but the Reunion went really well. Everyone there was a cousin from a different branch of the Hollie family, but that didn’t really matter: we’re all family. James Earl and Bobby (Hollie) did some singing later in the night and it all went really well. (James Earl used to be in George Jones’ band way back when.) Got back to the RV WAY after my bedtime!

2019-09-06-

Got up Sunday and drove to Oregon, Ohio. The drive through eastern to northern Tennessee is really pretty. (Not as pretty as the drive through southern Utah, but pretty.) Pulled into Oregon, Ohio late but managed to get the RV parked and hooked up at my in-laws house.

2019-09-07-

Highlights of the next two weeks: Visited the Henry Ford, the Toledo Zoo, and drove to Pennsylvania to visit my friend of 35 years for a night. Also got to help my f-i-l with his yard and garage. SWMBO cleaned inside; I cleaned outside.

2019-09-08-

Took off from Oregon, Ohio the 7th. After a murderous headwind while crossing Nebraska and Wyoming (about 100 gallons of gas! Cruise control set to 70 and speedometer reading 58 mph kind of headwind), and a bout of probably food poisoning (from a meatloaf tv dinner), after 3 days we pulled into Midway, Utah to visit those very same friends I visited on the way out.

2019-09-09-

Stayed the night and headed for home early in the morning. Was going to stay at the Mountain Home AFB campground but we got there at about 1100 so we decided to just get on home. Pulled in here around 2200 if I remember right. Probably; but I was SO tired I really don’t remember.

2019-09-11-

I’m going to bed.

Jul 09

Five Days. 2584 Miles.

Took a drive to Rialto, Calif to visit my (step-) Mom that I hadn’t seen in about 37 years. On the way back we stopped by Fairfield, Calif to visit with my Sister that I hadn’t seen in even longer. Both visits were great if way too short.

2018-07-04-0001

Left at zero-dark-thirty (0500) Wednesday morning. Made it to Sacramento, Ca. Nice ride. Lot’s of smoke in the air starting around Medford, Or. Fires in Calif. Can see why Calif would burn off the map with all the dried grass on the hills.

2018-07-06-0011

Got up and left early Thursday and arrived in Rialto, Calif about 1400. Nice to see my Step-Mom! After sitting at her house a couple of hours we took her to dinner for a coupleof hours. Closer to three.

Glad to be inside though since it was 198 degrees outside! Phew even for me!

2018-07-06-0249

Up early Friday morning and headed off to Fairfield, Calif to see my Sister. Got a room at the Inn on Travis AFB; nice! $60 instead of $130+. Took a lot of nice pictures of their airplane exhibits and SWMBO.

Got to see my Sister (first time in about 40 years) for only a little while since she had to get ready and go to work. Nice visit though. I could probably hang around with her.

2018-07-06-0078

Then we headed North. Spent another night in a motel (Days Inn. Crappy.) and made it back home about 1730 last night (Sunday).

Tired! Holy Crap tired! And had trouble falling asleep. Finally took my medicine when we got home and was up pissing until late.

2018-07-07-0024

All in all: Nice trip seeing stuff I hadn’t seen since forever (last time I was in Calif was 1993 when we moved up here) with my schweetie. She is the best traveling companion!

Anywho, we’ll catch up with more later.
