Thursday Morning Contemplations

So, sitting here at my desk @ 0730 this drizzly Thursday morning, I have to say that there is really only one thing that pisses me off about this Truck. I originally set out to buy a truck on my own; to build up my credit and do something without asking my lovely young bride for money. Too long I’ve had to ask her for the bucks to do anything. (I needed a new truck with better towing too, so it wasn’t just to do something on my own.)

Somehow, and I’m really not too sure how, SWMBO got involved in the financing part and it’s too late to keep her off the paperwork. I know she had to sign off on the old truck to trade it in, but where did it turn to the financial part? I don’t know to blame Haselwood for being Haselwood, or myself for being stupid. But I don’t think I’ll ever be able to change it with this truck. Not even if I refinance at our Credit Union.

So I’m really not a happy camper about that. Otherwise I really like the truck. And other than that Haselwood has been great to deal with; everyone has been nice and they really did give me (what I think was) a great price on a nice truck. I don’t know how I’m going to be able to answer that survey when I get it. If it’s only about Marcus (my Salesman) then no problem. He was pretty good. But, if they ask about “overall experience,,,” (Naw. Who am I trying to kid? Overall it was pretty good. I’m just upset right now about the financing. But, no one held me down and forced me to sign the paperwork either. Maybe I really wanted a new truck and didn’t realize it. Or maybe I am just stupid.)

I have been lusting after a full-sized, “King” cab, 4×4 truck for years.

Time to get off my ass and get my day started!

Rainy Damn Day.

And a pretty normal day for me. Got my regular chores done. Spent a lot of time in the new truck trying to figure out where I’m going to mount my yaesu-857d. And a speaker so I can hear the thing. Where to run antenna wires. Where to mount the antenna’s.

Been playing with the fancy assed dash stuff too. Man, there is a lot of “stuff” to go through. More electronics than in the first computer I ever owned! I just leave the main screen thingie on the map view. At least I’ll know where I’m at. You can also change your music and other stuff on the steering wheel. And there’s a little info screen in the middle of the dash instrument panel.

Too much! I can even make hands free calls if my phone is tethered to the truck. Damn. On-Star but no SiriusXM. I keep all my music on a USB drive.

Picked SWMBO up at the Ferry Landing tonight and gave her a tour of the Truck. Nice being with her. MCARC 10-meter Chat Net went well with 7 or 8 check-ins. About to get ready for bed cause I’m tired.

BTW, the new truck is a 2014. Typo last night…

Really Wet & Windy Out.

Didn’t really start out that way @ 0700 when I finally got my fat, lazy, old ass out of bed. Slept in snuggled up to my schweetie cause she didn’t have to get up too early today. Genealogy Library day.

So, since she had to take the truck to the library, I just did things around the house (laundry & my usual chores) and researched R-Pods & New Trucks online. HOURS later I’m undecided between the Toyota Tacoma (around $25k) and the GMC Sierra (around $25k) as far as trucks go. R-Pod prices go from $15k to $22k depending on how far I want to drive to pick it up. Idaho seems to have pretty good prices on them. Hey, I wonder if they’d have better prices on trucks? Hmmm.

SWMBO got home about 1500 and took me to a late lunch/early dinner at Arby’s in Silverdale. It also started raining and hasn’t stopped. Spent too much money at COSTCO (again) and made our usual stop by Safeway (gas for $2.76/gal).

Lucille Ball in Roman Scandals (1933)

Got home and unloaded the truck. Really getting windy and wet out there. My antenna wire is really bouncing up and down. I’ll be surprised if I don’t lose it tonight. Was going to take it down and re-do it anyway.

Bought Seasons 3 & 4 of the Doctor Who reboot at COSTCO. I think it was worth the $20 each just to get a better rip on my tv drive. SWMBO doesn’t quite fell that way about it. But she’s not a “Whovian.”

And not much else going on. We’ll probably just chill until bedtime. I’m finishing up the latest “Godzilla” and will probably switch to Doctor Who until I crash. (Which reminds me: time to download the latest episode!)

We Got Some Thunder! And Rain.

Pretty much a normal morning around here. Once I got my coffee into me I noticed that it was really raining outside.

Sun came out so I made a run into town. Stopped on the back-side of Theler Wetlands and took some pictures of the clouds. (Made a bunch of panorama’s if you’re interested.) Was nice to get out of the house for awhile. Took the Dog for a quick walk around the back 40 while it wasn’t raining. Even though it’s been raining pretty good these past few days, the ground isn’t mushy yet. We had a very dry summer this year.

Wow. Tornado in Longview, WA earlier today. (Way South of us.) That is unusual. We had a bit of thunder here but didn’t see any lightning. Set my camera up to maybe catch some but our (crappy damned) neighbor kid was outside banging on something so that’s pretty much all you can hear on the video. (This is the 3rd day in a row for the damned banging. No idea what he’s doing but I wish he’d get them buried and move on.)

And, by golly, that’s pretty much how the rest of my day went until SWMBO got home. Didn’t make an appointment for the Dog to get his final summer haircut and bath but did find out my Social Security started. I’ll stop by and make an appointment for the Dog on my way back from my Doctor’s appointment tomorrow.
